Our Beginning

Newstead Connect started with a conversation on the sidelines of a kids’ playdate at a footy pitch. Pieter Rautenbach and Hasan Riaz, both seasoned project management professionals, bonded over a shared frustration—the limited adoption of technology in project delivery. They saw firsthand how outdated processes were holding back efficiency, visibility, and control in complex projects.

What began as a casual discussion quickly evolved into a bold idea: to build a consultancy that modernizes how PMOs and project controls are applied, using technology, data, and innovation to drive better decision-making. With that mission in mind, they teamed up and launched Newstead Connect in August 2020—right in the middle of a global pandemic—with just two clients and a vision to redefine project governance.

Fast forward to today, Newstead Connect has grown into a global consultancy, working across industries like mining, infrastructure, defense, and construction. With offices in Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, and a growing team of experts, we help some of the world’s largest organizations set up PMOs, implement digital project controls, and harness data to drive performance.
